“Feed me, feeeeeeeeeeeed me”

Year: 2008

Director: Tom Six

Country: Ireland

The concept of stitching people butt-to-mouth was based on a joke that Tom Six once shared with his buddies about punishing child molesters. For the sake of the film’s sanctity, I’d much rather believe that he was just insane or underwent severe trauma as a child.

The malevolence in this film does have its moments. Deiter Laser, the vile doctor, is creepy to the point that it distracts us from his ridiculous sunglasses.

The moment of euphoria he experiences when the human centipede starts mimicking a household pet is hideously touching, especially when he strongly urges the head portion of the centipede to feed and keep the rest alive.

Speaking of the head, Akihiro Kitamura, in that role, is so gloriously kitschy with his facial expressions that we never remember just how ridiculous some of his dialogues were.

“Hey girls! Hey mister! What an insane world we live in, isn’t it?”

However, the dissection of kneecaps in particular left a lot to be perversely desired.
